Spelling

At Water Leys we follow a very structured spelling programme called Read, Write Inc which links to our phonic programme.  The pupils have a daily spelling lesson where they learn and rehearse spelling patterns.  The spelling pattern that the children have been working on is added to the weekly homework so that you can support your child at home.    

By the end of Year 2, the children are also expected to be able to accurately spell all of the Year 1 and 2 Common Expectation Words.  These are words which have a tricky spelling pattern as they don't follow the usual spelling pattern.
