Sports Premium Funding at Water Leys Primary School

Sport Premium is an amount of money which the government has agreed to allocate to schools to increase the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, and increase participation in PE and Sport. The funding amount received by schools is based upon the number of children of primary age at the school and a lump sum.

A wide range of PE is delivered at Water Leys and we aim to engage and inspire all pupils to play and enjoy a variety of sports. We are using the PE and Sport Premium money to maintain the extremely high standard of teaching in PE and continue to offer a wider range of sporting activities, giving children even more opportunities to engage. These activities are in competitive and non-competitive sports.

We are particularly pleased to be offering the children competitive opportunities in numerous sports including: football, cricket, basketball, hockey, tag rugby, athletics, cross country and netball, through our links with local schools and through the South Leicestershire Sports Partnership.

We also use our links with local sports clubs including Leicester Riders, Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Leicester Tigers to further enhance our provision.
